Aquanex celebrates World Environment Day with water tastings, environmental volunteering and Aqualogía

Ensuring the continuity of natural resources so that future generations can be supplied is a duty whose fulfillment we must ensure from companies, administrations and society. Aquanex, as a company with more than 40 years of experience in water management in Extremadura, has been working on this matter for a long time, integrating in its own strategy the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which constitute a fundamental part of the 2030 Agenda.

One of the keys to addressing the challenges posed by the SDGs is the environmental awareness of children and adults and that is why Aquanex is promoting a series of initiatives that, today, World Environment Day, want to put in value. The Aqualogía educational program, which aims to raise awareness among children of the need to make an intelligent consumption of water and teach them how natural and urban water cycles work, was taught last week in the classrooms of the 4th year of Primary School Donoso Cortés from the city of Don Benito.

Around 50 students participated in Aqualogía workshops in which Aquanex technicians became teachers explaining to the children what processes are applied to water to make it drinkable and that it reaches their homes with the highest quality, as well as those that are taken to to return it to the natural environment in perfect conditions. The use of interactive resources and the realization of fun experiments were some of the keys to the success of Aqualogía that got the students to immerse themselves in the water cycle without leaving the classroom.

This program is framed within the 'Planet' axis of the Sustainable Development Plan 'Don Benito 2020' that the City of Don Benito and Aquanex share with the aim of turning the city into a benchmark in innovative, sustainable and socially responsible management of the Water.

Tasks of water and environmental volunteering to celebrate the DMMA

Precisely to take care of the planet, and specifically, the natural environment of Don Benito, the City Council and Aquanex have prepared a day of cleanliness in the spot of 'The Island'.

Today at 10.00 this activity will take place, which has a double purpose: to remove the abandoned residues in nature and to make the population aware of keeping the natural environment clean and free of waste.

In the same way, in Villanueva de la Serena, will also join this day of volunteering where they will clean the site of 'El Badén'.

In order to learn to distinguish the characteristics of different types of water and to know the environmental, social and health benefits of drinking tap water, Aquanex has prepared some very unique tastings in collaboration with the town councils, the Tentudía Association and the UTE Aguas de Plasencia.

The water tastings will take place in Coria, Fuente de los Cantos, Plasencia and Fuente del Maestre. All the neighbors who want it, can go through the Plaza de La Paz (Coria) Constitution Square (Fuente de los Cantos), Plaza España (Plasencia) and Plaza España (Fuente del Maestre) and become expert tasters.
