Villanueva de la Serena already has a new auxiliary tank

This construction adjoins the town's general tank in an area called the ‘Cerro de la Horca’, and will guarantee the town's drinking water supply year round.

The over 22,000 inhabitants of Villanueva de la Serena are already enjoying the benefits of the new auxiliary water tank in the town. This work was undertaken by Aquanex, the company that manages the municipal water service. The new tank guarantees continuity of the water supply to the town, due to the increased water storage capacity and the fact that it provides an alternative source of supply if maintenance or repair tasks need to be performed on any of the existing infrastructure. A total of 719,989 euros was invested in this action.

The new construction adjoins the town's general tank, in an area known as ‘Cerro de la Horca’. It can be identified by its unusual ‘V’ shape and represents a milestone in the application of innovation and the latest technology for the benefit of all inhabitants of Villanueva.

Until now, the town had just one tank with a capacity of 7,500 m3 and just one vessel to store drinking water, which led to the entire population's water supply being cut when this infrastructure required repairs or maintenance. Due to the auxiliary tank of 1,800 m3, connected to the original one, the water supply no longer needs to be cut to carry out maintenance tasks.
